Nico D’Orazio is a ’28 from Rockville, Maryland, majoring in Government, with double minors in international studies and Spanish. He is passionate about studying insurgency, foreign aid, and post-conflict reconstruction, and aspires to pursue a career in international security and development. Nico is currently serving as a Student Assistant for the Great Issues Scholars program and a Presidential Scholar for Professor Jason Lyall, studying the effects of aid removal on communal violence in South Sudan. Prior, he investigated civilian brutality across all wars from 1800-2022 for Postdoctoral Fellow Katherine Irajpanah. Beyond academics, Nico is the Treasurer of the Dartmouth Political Union, an ambassador for Dartmouth Civics, and a teacher’s assistant with DCSI TEACH. For fun, Nico enjoys swimming in the river, going on hikes, and cooking with friends.
